The CNMI Public School System Assessment Program oversees the Comprehensive Accountability Plan. This was approved by the CNMI State Board of Education in 1999 which requires the assessment of students’ academic achievement. The Comprehensive Student Accountability Plan was developed for the purpose determining what students know and what students are able to do based on multiple modes of assessments

The Pacific Assessment Student Services with Pacific Resource Educational Laboratory (PREL) under the guidance of Dr. Donald Burger has provided consultation work with the Comprehensive Student Accountability Plan which has placed the CNMI Public School System in the fore front in the statewide assessments within the Pacific region.
